Upgrading to JDE 9.2 with All Out Security at Port Houston

The Organization

Port Houston operates a 25-mile-long complex of diversified public and private facilities located just a few hours’ sailing time from the Gulf of Mexico. Port Houston is ranked first in the United States in foreign waterborne tonnage (19 consecutive years); first in U.S. imports (23 consecutive years); first in U.S. export tonnage (6 consecutive years) and second in the U.S. in total tonnage (23 consecutive years).

Project Objectives

  • Upgrade the company’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system from 9.0 to 9.2, including modules for Finance, HR, Payroll, Procurement, and Real Estate
  • Implement JDE security via ALL Out Security to achieve compliance with internal controls

Smartbridge Methodology

Port Houston selected Smartbridge as their partner to execute the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne upgrade and security implementation. Smartbridge’s history of providing solid results and delivering successful JD Edwards projects at Port Houston led to the decision. Smartbridge is managing the upgrade, conducting all JDE technical work including CNC and retrofit development, and implementation of the security changes in ALL Out Security.

Results

Smartbridge’s in-depth knowledge of Port Houston’s technical environment and detailed planning has allowed for smooth execution of the project. Following our proven JDE upgrade methodology, Port Houston successfully went live in October of 2016, on-schedule and on budget. Port Houston is operating successfully on JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.2, and will be looking to leverage the new functionality and capabilities to make improvements to streamline their business processes and enhance security.
