They have a presence in 225 cities in 25 countries with over 1,400 properties and $144 billion of assets under management. This real estate firm wanted to explore data management automation with robotic process automation (RPA) to eliminate the manual deletion of data within their cloud service.
The Project Scope
Most enterprise businesses are creating immense amounts of data every year. For this international real estate and property management firm, that data comprised of 345,000 folders and files in their cloud, Box.

INDUSTRY: Real Estate/Property Management
HEADQUARTERS: Texas
FOUNDED: 1957
To keep their file and folder structure integrity in check, they regularly identify empty folders and delete them. A team of employees that cleans up this giant database will spend 5 to 10 minutes per folder. Obviously, this is a time-consuming and repetitive task that by nature has a high potential for a data automation management solution.
The Smartbridge Solution
With UiPath, Smartbridge created a bot that extracts the folder structure and checks each sub-folder for files. The bot connects to Box via the API, as they are stable, reliable, and faster. Then the bot deletes folders, notifies users, and captures any exceptions. In the notification, it includes details of what was deleted, the total number of folders scanned, and links to the log files.
Here’s a look at the steps the bot takes to execute the deletion process:
The technology stack required to accomplish this project included UiPath and Box.
Success Through a Modernized Implementation
Since this bot was recently deployed, we look forward to sharing the results and cost savings for the real estate firm as the bot deployment matures.
