Distributing JD Edwards Financial Reports to Over 1,000 Business Units Every Month
The Client
The client is a privately held quick-service restaurant chain with over 1000 locations spread across the country. The company operations require timely data and reporting to effectively manage their sales and cost.
The Problem
Every month, P&L and other operational financial reports generated out of the JDE ERP system must be distributed to over 1,000 business units. These reports enable the store operations management to analyze their daily, weekly, and monthly performance measures and adjust their plans accordingly.
The ERP system did not have the capability to distribute the reports based on the business unit security to the management team responsible for the BU.
The Solution
Smartbridge worked with the finance reporting directors to define business and security requirements. They designed and developed a custom application suite that integrates with JDE EnterpriseOne to automate the creation and distribution of the reports.
Some of the key requirements and obstacles that needed to be overcome in the design and implementation were:
Leveraging our Global Development capabilities, Smartbridge successfully created an expandable solution that leveraged built-on existing investments in Active Directory and JD Edwards. The solution allowed the finance department users to add or remove reports and BUs, as well as modify users as requirements changed and subscribe or unsubscribe to reports.
The Result
The solution was originally built to last just a few months in 2004. But today it continues to be used by the client for their financial reports generation and distribution needs. It is flexible, cost-effective, and distributes over 5,000 reports each month at a significant ROI.
