Organizations must establish a GenAI Policy urgently to avoid getting damaged.
New Generative AI-based technologies, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, Microsoft Copilot, and similar AI solutions, are becoming widely available, and many of your leaders and innovators will understandably be interested in seeing how these tools can enhance your various corporate functions. Business and IT leaders must embrace and approach the adoption of these Generative AI solutions with extreme thought, caution, and foresight.
The opportunities to use this exciting new technology to accelerate innovation, create efficiencies, improve operations, and grow sales are very promising and can transform business operations. However, the allure of those opportunities must be balanced against the inherent risks posed by the power of these tools.
Organizations must establish an AI Governance Council to establish policies and provide guidance, training, and support on using Generative AI for all employees. They must monitor, track, and govern the usage of data and outputs to ensure key business decisions are only made using hallucination-free outcomes and recommendations. IT must be extremely careful with code generated using these technologies – they may inadvertently share your code with the outside world and bring in code that does not meet today’s standards and security.
These tools promise to enhance innovation, efficiency, and operational effectiveness. However, they also introduce significant risks, including data security concerns and the potential for biased or inaccurate AI-generated outputs.
